Two high denomination George VI notes from Fiji's colonial past were sold at a recent auction

Two high denomination George VI notes from Fiji's colonial past were sold at a recent Noble Numismatics auction in Sydney, Australia.

The £10 note, dated Jan. 1, 1942, is the first date for this series and is very rare. The note, graded VF, was sold for USD15,415 (AUD19,120).

The £20 note, dated Sept. 1, 1948, is not as rare as the 1942 £10 note. It came described as having "firm original paper" but with folds, creases, a 2mm slit under the lower serial number and minor tone spots. The note, graded F, was sold for USD10,601 (AUD13,145).
