Brunei and Singapore launch new banknotes to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement. The agreement allows both countries to accept the currency issued by the other, and exchange them at par and without charge, into their own currency.

The front of the Brunei 50 Ringgit features Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah; the front of the Singapore 50 Dollars features its first president Yusof Ishak. The back of both notes shares the same design, signifying common values and close cooperation in areas of defense, education and tourism between the two countries.
