South Korea plans to issue a 2000 Won Winter Olympics commemorative banknote

 

South Korea plans to issue a 2000 Won banknote to commemorate the Winter Olympic Games to be held on February 9-25, 2018 in PyeongChang.

 

 

Front: Athletes engaging in seven of the key winter sports events - speed skating, ski jumping, ice hockey, curling, biathlon, bobsleigh and luge.

Back: A tiger and a pine tree, symbolizing the nation, as in the famous "Songhamaenghodo" painting by a leading painter from the Joseon-era, Kim Hong-do (1745-1806).

Kyrgyzstan plans to issue Series IV banknotes

 

Kyrgyzstan plans to issue three new Series IV banknotes on January 1, 2017. The notes in denominations of 200, 500 and 1000 Som are similar to previous issues, except with revised portraits at left front, round ornament at center front that reveals hidden image of COM when viewed with backlighting, and the year 2016 at lower right back.

Saudi Arabia will issue sixth edition banknotes on December 26, 2016

 

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) will issue sixth edition banknotes on December 26, 2016.

The new banknotes are the same size as the old notes, so will continue to work with existing sticks in Saudi banks and in ATMs.

However, the new notes incorporate security print features that make them less prone to forgery, SAMA said in a statement on its website.

The sixth issue has been released under the motto, "Confidence and security".

The face of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud adorns the SR5, SR10, SR50 and SR100 notes, while the SR500 notes feature the image of the kingdom's founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud.

Venezuela plans to issue a new series of banknotes

 

Venezuela plans to issue a new series of six banknotes. The first denomination to be issued on December 15, 2016 will be the 500 Bolivares. This will be followed by 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and 20000 Bolivares on later dates.
