Jamaica Launched New 2012 Commemorative Banknote Series

The Bank of Jamaica officially launched its special series of 50th Anniversary of Independence commemorative banknotes Wednesday June 19, in celebration of the country's Golden Jubilee.

The 2012 commemorative banknote series consist of five denominations, $5,000, $1,000, $500, $100, and $50, with modifications to their original design. The modified design includes the Jamaica 50 logo superimposed on the watermark on the front of each note.

Myanmar to Issue 10,000 Kyat Banknote

Myanmar will issue a new 10,000-kyat bank note on June 15. This will be the country's highest-denomination currency. The current highest denomination bank note, 5,000 kyat, was introduced in 2009.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Issued New Series of Banknotes

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a new series of banknotes in denominations of BAM 10, 20, 50 and 100 on June 1, 2012. The new notes, dated 2012, are similar to previous issues but with improved paper quality and enhanced security features. Scans courtesy Claudio Marana
